Hello! My name is Mary (she/her), and I am a temporary limited license psychologist. I believe every person’s path to health and healing is formed by their unique combination of strengths, interests, and experiences. In therapy, I provide clients with a safe place to explore their lives through conversation, creative expression, humor, and play. Recognizing the significant role our environments play in determining our well-being, I work with each client to forge a life that supports radical self-love and acceptance of the client’s most authentic and liberated self. I enjoy working with clients of all backgrounds but have a particular passion for working with those who have experienced developmental (childhood) trauma and those dealing with complex family dynamics.
I received my master’s in clinical psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology in 2022 and am currently working on my doctorate. My dissertation focuses on decreasing the stigma around the life choices of low-income women in Detroit, where I was born and raised. Before becoming a psychologist, I worked as a human rights advocate. This gave me the opportunity to live and work in ethnically, culturally, and religiously diverse communities around the world, which often provides helpful context for understanding my client’s experiences. My work as an advocate also gave me experience working with those who have experienced violence, oppression, and trauma related to the immigration process and loss of one’s home and previous life.
Specialty areas include anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and racial trauma.
