Jared (he/him) is a master’s limited license psychologist (LLP) who earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and his master’s degree in clinical psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology. He is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association’s Society for Humanistic Psychology, a member of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ Equality, an active member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), and he is a certified WPATH member under the most recent Standards of Care (V7) for working with transgender and gender diverse clients. In addition to working with LGBTQIA+ clients, Jared also specializes in working with individuals to help them learn to embrace an intuitive eating framework; he is a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. He has experience working with people who struggle with eating disorders and weight/size stigma to learn to develop positive relationships with their bodies and enjoy their relationship with food.
Jared also has experience working with adult individuals and couples who struggle with identity concerns, psychosexual concerns, depression, anxiety, and OCD-spectrum disorders. He has previously worked in community, health psychology, and private practice settings. Jared identifies as a sex-positive, poly friendly, and kink-aware clinician. Because of Jared’s person-centered approach to each unique client’s treatment, he integrates elements of humanistic, feminist multicultural, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques. Using this framework, he tailors treatment to the needs of each client he sees. With couples and relationship therapy, his preferred treatment is emotionally focused therapy (EFT) which focuses on the attachment bond between partners and how this affects the rhythm and distress of the relationship.
